Herbal medicines are the oldest and still the most widely used system of medicine in the world. It is medicine made exclusively from plants. This approach to healing is common to all societies and cultures.
Using plants as medicine provides significant advantages for treating many conditions. The therapeutic activity of a plant is due to its complex chemical nature with different parts of the plant providing certain therapeutic effects.

MLD
is a gentle manual therapy which improves the activity of the
lymphatic system. It stimulates the immune system, improving general
health and well being.
A major benefit of MLD is the reduction of excess fluid accumulated as
a result of injuries, surgery, lymph-oedema, pregnancy or the removal
of lymph nodes in operations such as mastectomies.
Gail Yueh is available for MLD treatments on Tuesday, Wednesday and
Saturday
Reflexology
is a relaxing non-invasive therapy. It is based on the principle
that all organs and glands have corresponding reflex points in the
feet, hands and ears.
The thumb and fingers are used to apply pressure to the whole foot or
hand with special emphasis on the reflex areas related to a person's
particular health problems.
Reflexology stimulates the body's natural healing processes, helps
balance the nervous and endocrine systems, improves blood and
lymphatic circulation and relaxes the body and the mind.
Early in the 19th century,
Per Henrik Ling, a doctor in Stockholm, devised a system of massage to
treat ailments involving joints and muscles. This became known
as Swedish Massage. Others later extended the treatment and
today remedial massage is used to relieve pain and reduce swelling, to
relax muscles, and to speed the healing process following strain and
sprain injuries.
There are three forms of tissue manipulation used in remedial massage.
They are: light or hard stroking , which relaxes muscles and improves
circulation and is thought to increase the flow of blood toward the
heart; compression, which includes kneading, squeezing, and friction
and is useful in stretching scar tissue, muscles, and tendons so that
movement is easier; and percussion, in which the sides of the hands or
fists are used to strike the surface of the skin in rapid succession
to stimulate tissues.
A century ago Dr
Mikao Usui, a distinguished Japanese scholar, researched many
ancient sources in search of a method of healing through the hands
that had been practised in olden times.
The system basically works by the Rei-Ki practitioner or channel
gathering up the freely available universal energy around us an
facilitating its use by the client to promote the clients own self
healing processes.
